Ordinands 2024

Help us give our ordinands a gift for their ministry

In 2024, three people connected to St. Aidan’s will be ordained to the diaconate (Saturday, March 9) and the Priesthood (September or other dates, God willing). As a congregation we will give them a gift that will be used for their priestly ministry, an engraved oil stock, which allows them to bring oil of healing into hospitals, homes, and with them. We need to raise over $1000 for all 3 gifts.

To contribute toward these gifts (contributions will be received through August 2024) please make a gift marked for “Seminarian Support”. You may bring a gift for the Offering Plate, or use mail, or any of the ways on the website at www.saintaidans.org/ways-to-give or go directly to the online giving platform here.

Charles Martin

Charles Martin will graduate in May 2024 with a Master of Divinity degree from the School of Theology at the University of the South (Sewanee, Tennessee). There as at St. Aidan’s he has been involved in musical life, singing at weekly Choral Evensong and a weekly Eucharist. His field education experience was with the Southeastern Tennessee Episcopal Ministry (STEM), rotating between three small parishes and participating in parish life, preaching, and teaching. In Summer 2023 Charles completed CPE at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora. He recently completed his term as Student Body President for the seminary and is enjoying taking in all that Sewanee has to offer, particularly the outdoors, the daily rhythms of prayer, and serving as deacon in the seminary chapels, his field parishes, and St. Mary’s Convent. In the next academic year, Charles will pursue a Master of Sacred Theology (STM) in liturgical studies at Yale Divinity School and the Institute of Sacred Music. He is looking forward to the overlap between this continued formation and beginning his ministry as a priest.

Durango Jenkins

Durango Jenkins was born and raised in Colorado, and baptized and confirmed at Trinity Episcopal Church in Greeley, CO. He heard a pull to ordained ministry in college at the University of Colorado, Boulder and the St Aidan’s community helped him articulate his call. During his time at St. Aidan’s, Durango fostered a love for liturgy and the way we encounter Jesus Christ in our communal worship. Durango is in his third and final year at Virginia Theological Seminary, where he has been active in student life, planning class retreats and community events. As a part of his formation, Durango has served at Grace Episcopal Church, in Alexandria, focusing on Christian Formation and liturgy. Durango is eagerly preparing for his ordination and listening to where God is calling him next. Durango is a Gilbert and Sullivan enthusiast, hiker and baker. He enjoys time with his husband Keith, and their corgi.

Amanda Barker

Amanda Barker is St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church’s seminarian intern since August 2022. She is a Candidate for ordination to the priesthood and in seminary (low residency, mostly virtual) at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific (CDSP), the Episcopal seminary in Berkeley, California. Her sending parish is St. John’s Cathedral in Denver, where she was active in parish life for about a decade. Amanda lives in south Boulder with her husband, Aaron, and has two step-children. Her background is in the nonprofit world, focusing on land conservation advocacy and historic preservation education. Her experience informs her contemplative prayer practice and places creation care as a cornerstone of her faith. She has an M.S. from the University of Michigan and a B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis. She is a proud returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Madagascar, 2005-2008). Amanda spends her free time discovering more about this speck of land in the universe. Currently, she’s learning about the birds across seasons in her backyard. She also loves being in the kitchen, reading, and traveling to new places and favorite people. After graduating from seminary in May 2024, Amanda is excited to begin parish ministry here in Colorado.
