Upcoming Liturgical Seasons at St. Aidan’s

Advent 2024

Advent 2024: Hope in the Unseen

Advent is a season of hope, inviting us to hold faith even when the fulfillment of God’s kingdom feels distant. As we enter this sacred time, we are drawn to trust in God’s unfolding promise.

This season, rooted in the Gospel of Luke, emphasizes a dual nature of expectation and preparation: the expectation of Christ’s return and the preparation for the in-breaking of God’s kingdom in our world today.

God’s love is already at work, even in the unseen.

Advent Quiet Day - December 14, 2024

Advent Quiet Day: Hope in the Unseen
Saturday, December 14, 9am-1pm
Donate what you can to cover food costs - including $0.

Please plan to attend a reflective Advent Quiet Day centered on our Hope in the Unseen theme. As we move through this season, we are invited to nurture a quiet, anticipatory hope—a faith that leans into what is not fully visible and trusts in God’s promises at work. Our time together will include a blend of structured prayer, teaching, quiet reflection, and contemplative fellowship. Together, we will create space to open ourselves to the hidden presence of God, welcoming Advent’s call to prepare our hearts with faithful expectation.

The day’s rhythm will include exploring the Gospel of Luke passages -- John the Baptist’s call to prepare for God’s work, and Mary and Elizabeth’s witness of joy in unseen promises. The quiet day will give space for spiritual renewal with options for silent prayer, journaling or artistic creation, contemplative walks, and group sharing. Whether you are seeking a grounding Advent experience or a time of simple presence with God, this retreat will invite you to journey with hope in the unfolding promise of Christ.
